So the first meeting is in the books and we have a theme: First Tuesday of every month, the members of the most powerful family found at each of our respective addresses will meet to sample the local cuisine, talk shit about the other members of the family who didn’t make the meeting, and solve the world’s problems.

This month was admittedly a little flat without the lunatic ravings of David - most of which I agree with completely by the way - but fun was had at his expense as Troy (the author) retold the stories to John and Ben, who left before the now infamous, “I’ll raise you a fuck you!” quote from Thanksgiving ‘10.

Most of the lunch was spent discussing technology and real estate+local economy. John gave us a lesson on the state of the mortgage industry here in the valley - 8 of 10 of his loans are either short sale or repos. It would seem that the stigma of bailing on a home is fast fading. It’s tough to “do the right thing” and saddle yourself as a young (or old) family with hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt - especially if you’re the only one on the street taking the high road.

All in all - it was a great first lunch. I really enjoyed the time with cousins that I don’t normally get a chance to see outside of family functions. Plus- they are Wildcats and the Sun Devils just beat UNRB 30-29. Yes, Sparky, there is a God.
